Admission to diploma courses will be made on the basis of inter-se-merit of Joint entrance test (JET-2010) to be held on 22 May, 2010 (Saturday)
Eligibility: Students who have appeared in matriculation examination or who have already passed the matriculation examination can apply for the JET-2010. However, the candidates who have appeared in the matriculation examination will be eligible for admission only if they are able to pass the matriculation or equivalent examination from a recognized board
Examination fee: Rs. 520/- for general category and Rs 260/- for SC/ST categories in the form of cash or bank draft along with the completed application form (the board has published a refresher for JET-2010 for the benefit of the candidates. The same is sold at a price of Rs 300/-)

Emoluments

Pay: Selected candidates will be on probation for a period of one year. They will draw salary in the scale of Rs. 10000-470/6-12820-500/3-14320-560/7-18240 applicable to Junior Management grade scale-I. They will also be eligible for DA, HRA, and CCA as per rules in force from time to time. At present, initial monthly emoluments of Junior Management grade scale I officers, including DA, HRA, CCA, are approximately Rs. 18000/- in a metropolitan centre. The scale of pay is under revision.

Qualification (as on 01.01.2010 ): Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by central government. Should be computer literate (proficient in MS-office, basic applications, internet usage etc)
Candidates who are appearing for final year examination of graduation are also eligible to apply provided they produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 01st July 2010. Candidature of such candidates whose results are declared or have mark sheet dated after 01.07.2010 would be rejected.

Selection procedure

Selection will be on the basis of performance in written test and Interview. The details of written test and Interview are as under

Written test: Eligible candidates will be required to appear for written test comprising (i) objective test on quantitative aptitude, reasoning, socio-economic and banking awareness, English and marketing aptitude.
Further details regarding the written test i.e. number of questions, duration etc, shall be advised along with the call letter.

Interview: Those short listed candidates in the order of ranking in the written test as per the cut-off marks determined by the Bank shall be called for an interview and/or group discussion and the decision of the Bank in this regard shall be final.
Call letters for the written examination: The date of the written examination is tentatively fixed as 30.05.2010. However, it will be intimated in the call letter along with the centre/venue for the examination, well in advance of the date of the written examination.
Call letters for the written test will be sent by ordinary post to the eligible candidates to the address given in the online application. An eligible candidate who does not receive the call letter by 22.05.2010 should contact the offices at the address of the respective centres (details of which will be released in Bank’s website on 22.05.2010) between 24.05.2010 to 29.05.2010, furnishing his/her name, address, registration number and production of payment challan or download from Bank’s website.
Decision of the Bank in respect of all matters pertaining to this recruitment would be final and binding on all candidates.

Selection Procedure

Probationary officer and probationary clerk; written test + Interview
There will be negative marks for wrong answers in objective test. The descriptive test is only for qualifying purpose. Bank will decide the minimum cut-off marks for each subject as well as total weighted score (TWS). Depending on the number of vacancies, such of those candidates who rank sufficiently high in the order of merit in the written test as per the cut off marks decided by the Bank will only be called for interview.
Mere eligibility/admission to the test/pass in the test does not imply that the Bank is satisfied beyond doubt about the candidates’ eligibility and shall not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview. The Bank reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for interview.
Other details regarding the test will be given to the candidates in the Acquaint Yourself Booklet, which will be sent along with the call letter for written examination.
The Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure, if necessary. The change, if any, shall be communicated to the candidates in advance.
The Bank would be free to reject the candidature of any candidate at any stage of the recruitment process, if he/she is found to be ineligible. If appointed, such a candidate may be summarily removed and the fees paid by the ineligible candidates shall be forfeited.
Maximum marks for Interview is 100 for Probationary officer and Probationary clerk posts.
The final selection for the above posts shall be on the basis of performance in written test and Interview.
Candidates applying for the post of Probationary clerks have to appear for test, from a centre allotted to the state/union territory for which he/she is applying

However, the Bank reserves its right to change the date of written test, to add/cancel the test centres and to call the candidates for the test at any other centre at its discretion, under unforeseen circumstances, if any. The Bank also reserves the right to allot the candidate to any centre other than the one he/she has opted for. The candidates have to appear for the written test at the allotted centres at their own expenses. No request for change of centre will be entertained. The guidelines for filling on-line application are as follows; candidates should have a valid personal e-mail id. In case, candidate is not having valid e-mail id, he/she should create a new e-mail id. This e-mail id should be valid for the duration of the project; candidates should have remitted the requisite fee in any branch of Canara Bank and should have details of payment made or candidates should have remitted the requisite fee in any other Bank through NEFT and should have details of payment made; please note that without valid payment details, on-line registration of application will be summarily rejected; candidates are required to visit the Bank’s website www.canarabank.com->Careers->Positions Open page and click on the link recruitment project-2010 and apply for appropriate post. Alternatively, candidates can click the link recruitment scrolling in the news update; the link for registration of application will be open on website on the dates indicated at the top of this advertisement; after filling in all the required particulars, candidates shall submit the application on-line; there is provision to modify the submitted on-line application. Candidates are requested to make use of this facility to correct the details in on-line application, if any. This Modification facility shall be available up to the last date for on-line registration.
